One of the most tradition-bound cruise companies in the industry, Cunard Line, announced this past week that it would begin showing 3-D movies on its flagship, the Queen Mary 2.
It's not the only cruise line embracing the 3-D technology. Disney began showing 3-D movies on its ships in 2008, and Royal Caribbean also has begun adding 3-D movies to its newest vessels such as Allure of the Seas.
Cunard plans to show 3-D versions of such big name films as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in the Queen Mary 2's newly 3-D equipped Illuminations theater, which until now has been home to planetarium shows. In June, the theater also will feature a 3-D version of the opera Carmen co-produced by London's Royal Opera House.
