The good news: Many islands were untouched by the storms, and many that took a glancing blow or sustained minimal damage are open and welcoming visitors with open arms.
The bad news is that islands that sustained heavy damage are in the midst of recovery operations and may not be open to visitors now, however; using history as our guide, it's possible that these islands will reopen to tourism faster than you'd expect.
Undamaged islands
The following islands were outside the paths of Irma and Maria and suffered little or no damage from the storms:
Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bonaire, The Cayman Islands, Curacao, Guyana, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago.
Islands with moderate damage or fully reopened
ANTIGUA, BAHAMAS, CUBA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, GUADELOUPE, ST. KITTS & NEVIS, TURKS AND CAICOS
Islands that have some major Damage. Most of these are expected to reopen to cruise ships in November - December
ANGUILLA, BARBUDA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, DOMINICA, PUERTO RICO, ST. BARTS, ST. MAARTEN & ST. MARTIN, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS/ST. CROIX, ST. JOHN, ST. THOMAS
